25th-ranked Augustana shot a blistering 70.8 percent (17 of 24) in the second half to rally for a 70-54 Northern Sun Conference men’s basketball win at Wayne State College Saturday evening at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.  The Vikings, who trailed WSC 23-20 at halftime, improved to 17-4 overall and 10-4 in the NSIC while the Wildcats slipped to 9-12 on the season and 6-8 in league play.

Brian Metz of Wayne State College was selected Thursday to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VII College Division Men’s Basketball Second Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District VII represents schools in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. It is the second straight season that Metz has received Second Team All-District honors.

Wayne State College (9-11, 6-7 NSIC) hosts 25th-ranked Augustana College (16-4, 9-4 NSIC) in a Northern Sun Conference matchup at Rice Auditorium Saturday night in Wayne starting at 6:00 p.m.  The Wildcats enter play this weekend in a three way tie for seventh at 6-7 in the NSIC with Upper Iowa and Southwest Minnesota State while the Vikings are tied for third in league play at 9-4 with Winona State and Mary.  Augustana defeated Wayne State earlier this season (December 12th) 77-64 in Sioux Falls.

Concordia-St. Paul used a late run to take the lead, then held off a rally by Wayne State, to top the Wildcats 63-61 Saturday evening in Northern Sun Conference men’s basketball played at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.  With the win, the Golden Bears take over sole possession of sixth place in the NSIC at 7-6 in league play and 10-10 overall while WSC slips to a three-way tie for seventh in the league at 6-7 in the NSIC and 9-11 overall.
