For the second straight season, the Wayne State College women’s basketball team has been selected to the WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaches Association) Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the 2009-10 season. The Wildcats ranked 18^th in NCAA Division II with a team cumulative grade point average of 3.454. Wayne State College was the highest ranked Northern Sun Conference team listed in the top 25 teams that made the honor roll.

WSC women's basketball adds two transfers for 2010-11 season

Wayne State College head women’s basketball coach Chris Kielsmeier announced today that two transfers will be joining the Wildcat program for the 2010-11 season. Eva Benson of Overton, Nebraska and Kara Powell of Hot Springs, South Dakota will both transfer to Wayne State and each have two years of eligibility with the Wildcat program.

Kielsmeier receives WBCA Victory Club Coaches Award at Final Four

Wayne State College head women’s basketball coach Chris Kielsmeier was honored at the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Final Four in San Antonio, Texas over the weekend as a recipient of the Russell Athletic/WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaches Association) Victory Club Award for his 200^th career victory during the season.

Wayne State College went 11:07 without a basket in the second half as 7^th-seeded CSU-Pueblo rallied from an 11 point second half deficit to shock the 2^nd-seeded Wildcats 59-48 Friday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Division II Central Regional Women’s Basketball Tournament in Durango, Colorado. The ThunderWolves advance to Saturday’s semifinals with a 21-10 record while ending Wayne State’s season at 26-5.
