NCAA Pre-Regional Cross Country Men's Results
The Wayne State College men's cross country team took third place Friday afternoon at the NCAA Pre-Regional Meet held in Wayne. MSU Moorhead edged Augustana 32-37 for the team title with WSC coming in third with 72 points. The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved up one day due to predicted cold, windy and snowy weather.
Five team competed in the meet with MSU Moorhead, Augustana and WSC finishing in the top three. Mary was fourth with 90 points while Northern State did not field enough runners for a team score.
Junior
York Thomas was the top finisher for Wayne State, placing fifth out of 33 runners on the 10,000 meter course with a time of 33:46. Junior
John Kern, who led for nearly the first half of the race, fell off the pace down the stretch and came in 13th overall at 34:38. Other WSC finishers were
Matt Seiler taking 20th place in 35:07,
Jason Schaaf was 26th at 37:02 and
Trevor Urkoski came in 28th place in a time of 37:57.
Wayne State returns to action on Saturday, October 24th competing at the Northern Sun Conference Championships in Bemidji, Minnesota.
