USD Don Baker Invitational Cross Country Results
The Wayne State College men's cross country team opened the 2009 season Saturday at the Don Baker Invitational held at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. No team scoring was kept. Teams competing included the University of South Dakota, Augustana, Briar Cliff, Dakota State, Midland Lutheran, Morningside, Mount Marty and Wayne State.
Juniors John Kern and York Thomas placed ninth and 12th respectively out of 78 runners to lead the Wildcat men's team. Kern's time on the 8,000 meter course was 26:54.78 while Thomas crossed the line in 27:08.30. Other WSC finishers included Matt Seiler in 24th place at 28:01.13, Columbus freshman Trevor Urkoski finished 30th overall in a time of 28:50.14 and Jason Schaaf came in 42nd place at 29:55.48.
Wayne State returns to action on Saturday, September 19 when the Wildcats compete at the Woody Greeno Invitational at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln starting at 10:00 a.m.
