Nebraska Tuneup Open Final Results

                The Wayne State College indoor track and field teams competed in the Nebraska Tuneup Open Friday night at the Devaney Center Indoor Track in Lincoln in the team's final tuneup before next weekend's Northern Sun Conference Championships.  The Wildcat men's team had two new school records in a meet that featured strong competition. 

                Sophomore Andy Jansen broke his own school record in the 600 yard run by placing seventh in a time of 1:13.98, breaking his old mark of 1:14.75 set two weeks ago at the Husker Invite in Lincoln.  The other school record was set by the Wildcat 4 x 400 meter relay team as the foursome of Michael King, Drew Molacek, Aaron Garza and Andy Jansen placed sixth in a time of 3:21.04 to top the previous school mark of 3:22.73 set last season by Garrett Flamig, Andy Jansen, Ben Jansen and Mack Baumann. 

                Weight throwers Jacob Mathieson and Brad Wright earned top 10 finishes for the Wildcats as Mathieson placed ninth at 52' 1 ¼” while Wright was right behind in 10^th place at 51' 2 ¾”. 

                 Wayne State will compete next weekend at the Northern Sun Conference Indoor Championships in Mankato, Minnesota on Friday and Saturday.
