Bidroski, Wendte named to NCBWA All-Central Region Baseball Team

2010 NCBWA All-Central Region Baseball Teams

            Nick Bidroski and Joe Wendte of Wayne State College have been named to the NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) 2010 All-Central Region Baseball Team released Tuesday.  It's the third post season honor for both players as Wendte has already been named First Team All-Central Region by ABCA/Rawlings (Coaches) and Daktronics (SID's) while Bidroski has been selected First Team All-Central Region from ABCA/Rawlings and Second Team All-Central Region honors by Daktronics.   

            Bidroski, a junior second baseman from Omaha Roncalli Catholic High School, led Wayne State in batting this season with a .420 average, accounting for seven homers and a team-high 48 RBI's.  He led the Northern Sun Conference in on-base percentage this season (.546) and tied for first in doubles with 23 while also ranking seventh in batting average (.420) and eighth in slugging percentage (.701).  Bidroski also had a team high 19-game hitting streak during the season.

            Wendte, a senior outfielder from South Sioux City, Nebraska (Sioux City Heelan HS), hit .416 for the Wildcats this season with 11 homers and 41 runs batted in.  He led the NSIC in walks (40) and was second in on-base percentage (.538).  Wendte also tied for fifth in runs scored (68) and ranked eighth in batting average and ninth in slugging percentage (.697).  Wendte was the NSIC Freshman of the Year in 2007 and was named First Team All-NSIC the last three seasons.  He was named the 2009 NSIC Player of the Year and was a Second Team ABCA/Rawlings All-American last season as a junior.

            Wayne State finished the 2010 season 26-23 overall and 21-10 in the Northern Sun Conference to finish sixth in league play.
