Former Wayne State College catcher John Plasha has signed a contract with the Camden (New Jersey) Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League.
Plasha, a native of Media, Pennsylvania, was named to the NSIC and ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region Gold Glove Teams this past season after hitting .290 with three homers and 36 RBI's. He finished the season going 12 for 24 (.500) in his last six games and made just one error all season behind the plate for a stellar .997 fielding percentage. Plasha ranked second on the Wildcat squad with 12 multiple RBI games and was third on the team with 13 multiple hit games. Last season as a junior, Plasha posted a .328 average with Wayne State accounting for 10 homers and 49 RBI's.
Wayne State finished the 2010 season 26-23 overall and 21-10 in the Northern Sun Conference to finish sixth in league play. Wayne State College is an NCAA Division II school located in Wayne, Nebraska and competes in the 14-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
