WSC men open cross country season with fourth place finish at Concordia-Seward

Final Men's Results from Concordia Open

            The Wayne State College men's cross country team opened the 2010 season Saturday morning placing fourth at the Concordia University Open held in Seward, Nebraska.  The Wildcats finished with 100 points in the team standings, trailing host Concordia University who won the team title with 34 points.  Redshirt freshman Garang Lual was the top finisher for Wayne State, finishing 10th overall on the four-mile course with a time of 21:42.

            Following Concordia University in the team standings were Concordia Alumni with 47 points, Morningside third (78 points) and Wayne State fourth with 100.  Hastings College (113), Midland Lutheran College (176) and York College (222) rounded out the team scoring in the men's division.

            Individually for Wayne State, Lual, a graduate of Omaha Westside, was the first runner to cross the line for the Wildcats with a time of 21:42.  Matt Seiler came in 16th place at 22:24 and Lee Anderson finished in 21st place at 22:40.  Other WSC finishers included Jason Schaaf 33rd place in 23:17, David Poots was 39th place at 23:28, Greg Tracy took 42nd place at 23:36 and Nathan Boggess was 44th overall in 23:40. 

            Wildcat senior York Thomas did not compete in the race due to an injury and another senior, John Kern, ran unattached and was ninth overall out of 83 runners with a time of 21:41.

            Wayne State's next meet is scheduled for Saturday, September 18th at the Woody Greeno Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
