Wayne State College head women's basketball coach
Chris Kielsmeier announced today that Milford native Haley Moore will transfer to Wayne State College and play for the Wildcats in the 2014-15 school year after spending last season at Division I Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Moore will have three seasons of eligibility with Wayne State College.
Haley Moore, a 5-8 guard, averaged 2.7 points and 1.1 rebounds per game while appearing in 31 games with three starts for the Eagles in 2013-14. She scored a season-high 17 points vs. Marygrove on November 30
th and also had 15 points in the season opener against Madonna on November 9
th.
At Milford High School, Moore was a three-sport standout in volleyball, basketball and track and field. In basketball, she scored 1,328 career points and was the team's leading scorer all four years in high school while setting numerous school records including career 3-pointers with 227. As a senior, Moore averaged 14.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game to earn Class C-1 First Team All-State honors from the Lincoln Journal Star. On the volleyball court, Moore was the team's starting setter for four seasons and was an All-Southeast Nebraska Conference selection while also being named Lincoln Journal Star Class C-1 All-State honorable mention for four years. Moore was also a State Track Meet qualifier in the triple jump and was an Academic All-State selection three times.
"Haley is a combo guard with experience that will give us added depth in the back court," said Kielsmeier. "She is a great shooter with a quick release. Haley also has the ability to handle the ball under pressure, attack the basket and can consistently finish. We have high expectations for Haley and are extremely excited that she has decided to join our program."
Moore joins Nebraska transfer guard Sadie Murren and five high school recruits - 6-1 forward/center Paige Ballinger of Pender, 5-9 shooting guard Jasmin Bretoi of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, 5-10 forward Kacie O'Connor from Sundance, Wyoming, 6-3 center Taylor Reiner of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and 6-0 guard/forward Maggie Schulte from Wynot as members of the 2014 Wildcat recruiting class.
Wayne State College is an NCAA Division II school located in Wayne, Nebraska and competes in the 16-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Wildcats were 28-5 during the 2013-14 season, winning the Northern Sun Conference regular season title for the third time in four years with a 19-3 league mark. WSC advanced to the NCAA Division II National Tournament for the fourth time in five years and won their first round game over Pittsburg State 83-77 before falling to Emporia State 76-69 in the NCAA Central Regional semi-finals at Searcy, Arkansas.
