Coach McLaughlin's comments: Sam is a kid who we initially recruited to Wayne State. He redshirted, then he decided to try it at Nebraska, but was forced to attend junior college due to his high school academic deficiencies. After two years of junior college, Sam came back to us, and we are very grateful for that. Sam is an NFL talent as a deep snapper, and has improved to the point of being one of the best tight ends in the Northern Sun Conference. An outstanding threat as a pass receiver, Sam has also developed his blocking techniques and is a very efficient blocker in the run game as well. Sam Blake is one of our most valuable players.
