Larry Coney
Larry "Red" Coney, a 1963 graduate of Wayne State, was a four-year letterman in basketball from 1958-1962. By the end of his career, he had broken all of WSC's point records. He scored a record 512 points (19.6 average for 26 games) and posted the single-game mark of 41 points his senior year, and held the season free-throw mark of 177 (set as a sophomore). He also broke the career total record with 1,455 points, nearly 400 more than the previous record.
At the time of induction, Coney was a two-time All-Conference selection and held the school record for career rebounds with 969 and held the school mark for free throws made in a season (177) and a career (525) at Wayne State College.
Coney was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame October 3, 1987.
