Robert "Bob" Cunningham

Robert "Bob" Cunningham was a three sport athlete at Wayne State College from 1935-1939. He participated in basketball, football and track. During his freshman year, Cunningham was a starting center on the football team until a serious neck injury forced him to give up that sport. A forward on the basketball team, Cunningham was All-Conference on the 1936-37 team which tied Peru State for the NAIA title. He was also a four-year letterwinner in track, throwing the javelin.

Cunningham was also given the Alumni Achievement Award and because of his outstanding support and service to the college, the football field was renamed "Bob Cunningham Field."

Cunningham was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame in the fall of 1985.
