Steve Heying

 

Steve Heying, from San Antonio, Texas, earned Second Team All-American honors in 1973 as a standout baseball player at Wayne State College. Heying wore a Wildcat uniform from 1970-73 and was selected by his teammates as the most valuable player on the 1973 team that finished with a 26-3 record.

At the time of his induction in 2003, Heying ranked eighth place in the WSC baseball record books with a slugging percentage of .718 and was sixth in home runs in a season with 11.

 

Heying was inducted into the Wayne State Athletics Hall of Fame on October 4, 2003.
