The Wayne State College men's cross country team remained seventh in the NCAA Division II Central Regional Cross Country Rankings released (today) Tuesday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Wildcats are coming off a third place finish at the Northern Sun Conference Championships on October 25, trailing only Minnesota State and Augustana in the team standings.
The top 10 teams in the region remain the same this week with Adams State of Colorado at the top of the regional rankings and Western State second. Minnesota State is third followed by Colorado School of Mines and Augustana (SD) in the top five. Metro State of Colorado is sixth with Wayne State seventh. New Mexico Highlands is eighth with St. Cloud State and Northern State ninth and 10th. The top six men's teams from the region will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania on November 22.
The Wildcats will compete at the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championships in Kearney, Nebraska this Saturday, November 8 with the men's race at 10:00 a.m. followed by the women running at 11:00 a.m.
