Final results from UNL Holiday Inn Invitational
The Wayne State College men's indoor track and field team competed for the first time in 2009 this weekend at the University of Nebraska Holiday Inn Invitational held in Lincoln at the Devaney Center Indoor Track.
The top perfomance for the Wildcats came from freshman Cody Diehl of Grand Island (Northwest HS) in the pole vault, placing fifth after clearing 15' 1". Other top eight finishers included Jacob Mathieson in the weight throw (54' 4 3/4") and senior hurlder Garrett Flamig, who made the finals in the 60 meter hurdles and finished 12th in 8.58 seconds.
The men's distance medley relay team of Cheto Cerda, Andy Jansen, Ben Jansen and Matt Schneider finished in fourth place with a time of 10:32.44.
The next meet for the Wayne State track and field teams will be on Friday and Saturday, January 23rd and 24th, when the Wildcats compete at the Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa.
