Midland Invitational Men's Golf Results
The Wayne State College men's golf team shot a 320 Monday to win the Midland Lutheran Invitational played in extremely windy conditions at the Fremont Golf Club. The Wildcats were eight strokes better than runner up Midland Lutheran at 328 with Briar Cliff finishing third in the 11-team tournament with a 337. The Wayne State JV team posted a score of 347 to take sixth place in the team standings.
Wildcat sophomore Adam Fields captured individual medalist honors with a four-over par 75, four shots ahead of second place Justin Zebolsky of Midland Lutheran. Blake Thompson shot an 80 to finish in a tie for third, Tyler Thompson came in with an 82 to finish in a tie for seventh and Jake Hirz finished with an 83 to tie for 10th place. Tyler DeJong rounded out the Wayne State scores with an 86.
Brett Shively and Justin Cunningham each recorded rounds of 85 to lead the Wayne State JV team. Mike Phillips shot an 88, Scott Barnes had 89 and Keith Eriksen finished with a 102.
This meet concludes the 2009 spring season for the Wayne State College men's golf team.
