Wildcat men harriers picked sixth in NSIC preseason coaches poll

NSIC Men's Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll

    Wayne State College was picked to finish sixth out of 10 teams in the Northern Sun Conference preseason men's cross country coaches poll released by the league office in St. Paul, Minnesota Tuesday afternoon.   The Wildcats garnered a total of 37 points in voting conducted by the league's head coaches.
    Minnesota State was tabbed the preseason favorite to win the NSIC this season with 81 points and nine of 10 first place votes.  Augustana was second at 70 points and the other first place vote.  St. Cloud State was third with 60 points while Minnesota Duluth and MSU Moorhead tied for fourth with 54 points.  Following WSC in the poll are Mary, Northern State, Winona State and Concordia, St. Paul.
    York Thomas, a junior from Lennox, South Dakota, was selected as Wayne State's runner to watch in the NSIC this season.  He was a Second Team All-NSIC selection last year following a 16th place finish at the NSIC Championships to go with his 10th place finish as a freshman that earned him First Team All-NSIC accolades.
    Wayne State is scheduled to open the 2009 cross country season on Saturday, September 5th at the University of South Dakota Open in Vermillion.
