The Wayne State College baseball program will be conducting two baseball camps in the month of January. A Total Skills Camp will be held on Sunday, January 17th with a Hitting/Pitching Intensity Camp scheduled for Sunday, January 24th. Both camps will take place in the Wayne State College Recreation Center and are open to baseball players ages 8 to 18. Players will be grouped according to age with the average group size of four players to ensure quality fundamentals and instruction.
The Total Skills Camp on Sunday, January 17th will emphasize all aspects of baseball – which include fielding, pitching, catching, hitting and base running. This camp is great for young baseball players. The Hitting/Pitching Intensity Camp on Sunday, January 24th is designed to give each camper advanced instruction in each area. Also included at each camp will be a session on strength training and conditioning conducted by former WSC baseball player Brandon McDaniel, who is a strength coach with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. McDaniel will provide an off-season workout plan that will help players get ready for their upcoming baseball seasons.
The Wayne State coaching staff and the Wildcat baseball team will instruct the camps. The WSC baseball camps have been well attended in the past due in part to the one-on-one training and the competent instruction given by the Wildcat players and coaching staff.
Both camps will run from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Wayne State College Recreation Center with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. Players are asked to bring their glove, bat and gym shoes. The fee for one camp is $45 or $80 for both and includes a camp T-shirt.
