Cody Diehl breaks own school record in NSIC Decathlon

                Cody Diehl of Wayne State College broke his own school record by scoring 6,057 points for a fourth place finish in the Northern Sun Conference Decathlon held Sunday and Monday in Aberdeen, South Dakota.  The sophomore from Grand Island Northwest High School eclipsed his previous mark of 5,820 points set on April 9 at the Emporia State Division II Challenge in Emporia, Kansas. 

                Diehl's highest finish in the 10 events of the decathlon were a pair of second place finishes in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.10 seconds and in the pole vault clearing 14' 7 ¼”.  Jeff Mills of Wayne State was also competing in the NSIC decathlon but had to withdraw after the eighth event, the pole vault, due to a sore knee.
