The Wayne State College men's golf team shot rounds of 335 and 357 Monday and Tuesday during the first segment of the 2012-13 Northern Sun Conference Golf Championships played at The Classic at Madden's in Brainerd, Minnesota. The Wildcats' 36-hole team score of 692 puts them in 12
th place after the fall portion with the spring portion of the tournament scheduled to be played next April at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minnesota.
St. Cloud State is the team leader after the opening 36 holes with a team score of 624, eight strokes better than second place Sioux Falls. Augustana is third at 640 with Minnesota State and Minot State tied for fourth place at 651.
Wayne State's top individual player was O'Neill sophomore
Blake Bauer shooting scores of 79 and 85 for a 164 total that is tied for 25
th overall out of 60 players. South Sioux City freshman
Jack Peterson was next at 87-88 (175) and tied for 47
th place. Other WSC finishers included Battle Creek freshman
Brad Lanman in 52
nd place with a 176 (86-90), Osmond sophomore
Garret Kuhl was tied for 53
rd after shooting 83-94 (177) while Wayne freshman
Colin Preston came in with rounds of 95 and 103 for a 198.
Wayne State will conclude the 2012 fall schedule on Sunday and Monday playing in the Missouri Western Invitational at St. Joseph, Missouri.
