Winona State outscored Wayne State 26-16 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 76-73 Northern Sun Conference women's basketball victory Saturday evening over the Wildcats at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. The visiting Warriors remain unbeaten at 7-0 and 3-0 in the league while WSC drops to 6-2 and 2-1 in NSIC play.
The Wildcats led for nearly the entire game (32:44). WSC took an early 13-7 lead on the Warriors, but WSU used a 10-2 run to take a 17-15 lead before the first quarter ended in a 19-19 tie.
WSC built a 30-21 advantage early in the second quarter and was in front 41-31 at intermission.
The Wildcats led the entire third quarter, holding a lead of 11 at one point (52-41) before ending the quarter with a 57-50 lead.
Winona State's rally in the fourth quarter was fueled by 6 of 10 shooting that included 4 for 6 behind the arc.
Wayne State still led 64-57 with 5:55 remaining, but the Warriors took their first lead of the second half at 68-66 on a Taylor Klug 3-pointer with 2:41 to play.

Brittany Bongartz layup tied the game at 68-68 with 2:14 left. The last tie of the game was 69-69 when
Erin Norling went 1-2 at the free throw line with 1:06 to play.
Winona State held off the 'Cats going 5-6 at the foul line in the final minute and rallied for the 766-73 win.
Bongartz and
Halley Busse each scored 18 points to lead Wayne State followed by Norling with 11.
The Wildcats made 29-68 from the field for 42.6 percent, going 7-25 behind the 3-point line while making 8 for 11 at the free throw stripe.
Winona State was led by Caitlin Riley with 14 points followed by Taylor Klug with 12 and Emily Kieck 11.
The Warriors shot 39.3 percent from the field making 24 of 61 shots. WSU was 8 for 24 from the 3-point line and 20-23 at the charity stripe (87%).
Winona State won the rebounding battle over WSC 42-34 despite eight boards from Norling.
Busse handed out six assists for WSC followed by Norling and
Lauren Zacharias with three apiece.
WSC will play their first NSIC road games of the season next weekend, starting Friday at 5:30 p.m. vs. Bemidji State followed by a Saturday 3:30 p.m. contest at Minnesota Crookston.
