Wayne State 4 Walsh (Ohio) 3

            Wayne State College held off a Walsh seventh inning rally as the Cavaliers had the bases loaded with one out, but the Wildcats got the final two outs without the tying run scoring as Wayne State held on for a 4-3 win over Walsh (Ohio) late Monday afternoon at the National Training Center Spring Games Softball Tournament in Clermont, Florida.  WSC is now 4-6 on the season with Walsh at 1-7.
            Walsh struck for two runs in the first inning for a 2-0 lead.
            The Wildcats came back with their own two-run inning in the second to tie the score at 2-2.  Kamryn Sparks singled and scored on a Emily Chandler sacrifice fly for the first run with Abbie Hix delivering an RBI single that scored Ashley Hernandez (reached on error) with the second run.
            WSC followed with two runs in the third for a 4-2 lead.  Kim Vidlak singled and scored on a Sparks RBI single with Sparks crossing home plate on another run-scoring single from Hix.
            The score stayed 4-2 until the bottom of the seventh when the Cavaliers staged a rally.  Walsh scored one run and had the bases loaded with just one out, but sophomore starter Maddie Moser got the Cavaliers to hit into a fielder's choice and popup to end the game as the Wildcats held on for the 4-3 win.
            Walsh held a 12-7 advantage in hits over WSC.  Hix finished 2 for 3 with a pair of singles and two RBI.  Sparks was also 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored.  Vidlak, Baylee Rial and Kortney Buresh each singled.
            Moser (1-3) earned the pitching win working 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts.  Freshman Makenna Adkison worked 1/3 of an inning.
            Wayne State is off Tuesday and will resume play Wednesday with two more games at the National Training Center Spring Games in Florida.
