Wayne State 83 St. Cloud State 59
            Wayne State's men's basketball team took down St. Cloud State University 83-59 Friday evening at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. The 'Cats move to 10-6 overall and 7-3 in the NSIC while the Huskies fall to 8-9 and 4-6 in the conference.
           Wayne State led the game from the opening tip, with junior guard
Nate Mohr hitting a three just 15 seconds into the contest, and the Wildcats never looked back. The 'Cats opened the game on an 8-0 run after a layup by
Alec Millender and another Mohr 3-pointer.
           Heading into the first media timeout of the game, Wayne State was up 16-7 just 5:48 into the contest. The Wildcats led by as many as 21 in the first half of play and at intermission WSC was up 43-25.
           Mohr scored 13 points for Wayne State in the half on five of nine shooting while making three of six from downtown. Junior forward
Jordan Janssen added 10 points and five rebounds in the first half.
           The Huskies were never able to make a comeback in the second half. With 14:39 remaining in the game, WSC again led by 21 at 56-35. The Wildcat lead got as big as 26 in the game after another Mohr three pushed the score to 64-38.
           The Huskies were not able to cut the deficit to less than 19 the rest of the game as WSC took the victory 83-59.
           As a team, the Wildcats outshot the Huskies with Wayne State making 50.7 percent of its field goals (34-67) compared to just 32.2 percent (19-59) from the Huskies. Wayne State had nine 3-pointers in the game one more than the eight from St. Cloud State.
           Wayne State had a 43-32 advantage in rebounds and eight more assists, 15-7. The Wildcats had six blocks in the game and 21 points of the bench. The Huskies had four more steals than the 'Cats (8-4) while Wayne State committed one less turnover (11-10).
           The 'Cats had 46 points in the paint compared to just 20 from the Huskies and had three more second chance points in the game (10-7).
           The Wildcats were led in scoring by Mohr who tied a season high in points with 19. Janssen added 18 points and has now scored double digits in 33 consecutive games, moving into eighth place on the all-time Wildcat Scoring list with 1,457 points, just ahead of Larry Coney (1958-62) with 1,455 points.

Cody McCullough had 12 rebounds for Wayne State, tying a career high. Senior forward
Ben Dentlinger had nine boards to go along with five blocks in the game.
Alec Millender led the team with three assists for the Wildcats.
           The Wildcats will be at home again Saturday evening hosting #9 Minnesota Duluth at 5:30 p.m.  Â
