Brahmer, Cada shine in Wildcat sweep over Minnesota Crookston

            Maggie Brahmer and Kelsie Cada combined for 30 kills as #1 Wayne State downed Minnesota Crookston in Northern Sun Conference volleyball Saturday afternoon at Rice Auditorium in Wayne by scores of 25-20, 25-10, 25-12.  The Wildcats are now 17-1 and the lone unbeaten team in the NSIC at 8-0 while the Golden Eagles fall to 3-13 and 1-7 in league play.
            Wayne State never trailed in the match.  The first set was close most of the way featuring seven ties, but with the score tied at 17-17 WSC used a UMC service error and kill by freshman Channatee Robles for a 19-17 lead and the Wildcats pulled away for the 25-20 set win.
            Brahmer was a perfect 9 of 9 hitting in the opening set to lead the 'Cats, who hit .393 as a team.  Cada followed with four kills.
            It was all Wildcats in the second set thanks to a .556 hitting percentage with 15 kills and no errors on 27 attacks WSC cruised to a 25-10 set win.
            Cada had six kills to go with three service aces in the set while Taya Beller added four kills and Robles three.
            All 16 Wildcats saw action in the third set as WSC continued their strong hitting with a .412 attack percentage and WSC completed the sweep with a 25-12 set win.
            Brahmer had six kills on eight swings in the third set with Cada adding four kills.
            Wayne State finished the match hitting .449 with 46 kills on 89 attacks and just six errors while UMC hit .103 with 27 kills on 97 attacks and 17 errors. 
            Both teams had five service aces while WSC held a 5-2 edge in blocks.
            Brahmer's 16 kills led the way for the Wildcats.  She had a sizzling .714 attack percentage in the win.  Cada added 14 kills and no errors on 23 attacks with a stellar .609 attack percentage.
            Beller and Taylor Bunjer each had three blocks for the 'Cats.  Senior libero Jordan McCormick had 16 digs while Cada had three of Wayne State's five aces.  Setter Rachel Walker handed out 40 set assists.
            Wayne State will travel to Augustana Thursday evening for an NSIC contest starting at 6 p.m.
