Wayne State football traveled to Marshall, Minn. and defeated the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University, 41-7 on Saturday evening. Senior quarterback
Nick Bohn threw for 218 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 45 yards with a score. WSC only had a 14-7 lead coming out of the halftime break before they score 27 unanswered points to earn their fifth victory of the season.
           The Wayne State defense forces an SMSU three and out and gave Bohn and the offense the ball at the WSC 31-yard line. The first score of the game came in Wayne State's first drive of the game. Bohn found
Akeem Knox roll out of the back field to score a 17-yard touchdown.
           The Wildcats extended their lead late in second quarter to 14-0 after marching 81 yards down the field. Bohn would scamper into pay dirt from seven yards. Southwest Minnesota responded with a score in the closing second of the second quarter. Kendon Krogman completed a pass to his left for Colin Maher for the Mustangs only score of the half.
           WSC received the kickoff in the second half and would use a 4:34 drive to go 82 yards for another score.
Jadon Johnson made a one-handed catch in the left corner of the end zone for his first touchdown of the evening and gave the 'Cats the 21-7 advantage. The Wayne State defense was clicking as well in the NSIC match up. Dexter Larson would strip the ball from a Mustang to force the fumble and set up the offense at the SMSU 33-yard line.
Kendrick Watkins-Hogue would go deep down center of the field and put up six for the 'Cats, making it 28-7.
           Wildcats stayed on the gas in fourth quarter as well, putting up two more scores. Bohn would throw his for his fourth touchdown pass of the evening, connecting with Johnson for his second receiving score. The final WSC score came from second string quarterback
Bennett Dannenbring, throwing a 50-yard dime to
Shea Gossett, his first career receiving touchdown. Wayne would win their fifth game of the season, fourth in conference after outscoring the Mustangs 41-7.
           The Wildcats will be on the road again next Saturday visiting the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota with kickoff set for 2 p.m.
