Noll, Stokes lead Wildcats past Bellevue 82-65

            Freshman Matt Noll and senior Sean Stokes combined for 34 points on 14 of 19 shooting to lead Wayne State College past Bellevue University 82-65 Monday evening in non-conference men's basketball played at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.  WSC improves to 4-0 on the year while the game was an exhibition contest for the 3-2 Bruins.
            WSC never trailed in the contest, jumping out to a 10-0 lead in the opening 2:13 of the game. 
            Bellevue responded with seven of the next nine points to cut the Wildcat lead to 12-7, but WSC scored the next eight points to grab a 20-7 lead at the 11:50 mark.
            The 'Cats extended that lead to 20 at 31-11 before ending the first half with a 37-22 lead at intermission.
            Wayne State maintained a double-digit advantage the entire second half, holding numerous leads of 20 points.  Bellevue got within 49-36 with 13:15 to play, but WSC pushed the lead back to 20 less than two minutes later following a Ryan Blum 3-pointer putting the 'Cats ahead 62-42. 
            Noll had a game-high 20 points to lead Wayne State in scoring, making 8 of 11 shots and 3 of 4 free throws.  He also grabbed six rebounds in the win.  Stokes finished with 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting.  JJ Ferrin and Cody McCullough also hit double figures with 10 points apiece.
            Wayne State finished the game making 34 of 59 shots for 57.6 percent.  The 'Cats were 7 for 14 behind the arc and just 7 of 15 at the charity stripe.
            Nigel Wilson scored 12 points for Bellevue followed by Raphael Allen with 11.
            The Bruins shot 49 percent from the field making 25 of 51 shots.  BU was 10 for 23 from 3-point range and 5 of 7 at the free throw line.
            WSC held a slim 29-28 edge in rebounding with McCullough grabbing a team-high seven.  Noll, Stokes and Ferrin each had four assists while Ferrin was credited with a team-high three steals.
            The Wildcats will be at home again Wednesday evening hosting Nebraska-Kearney at 7:30 p.m. in Rice Auditorium.
