Aurrion Harris had a career-high double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds along with five steals to fuel Wayne State College in a 91-79 victory over Sioux Falls Wednesday evening in a Northern Sun Conference men's basketball game played at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. The Wildcats improve to 5-3 and 1-1 in the NSIC while USF slips to 2-5 and 0-2 in league play.
The game was close early on with eight lead changes and one tie, but WSC used a 14-0 scoring run midway through the first half to take control of the contest.
WSC jumped out to an early 10-3 lead, but the Cougars roared back and took their first lead at 13-12 with 14:50 to play in the first half.
Sioux Falls was still holding on to a one-point lead at 21-20 with 9:42 to play in the half when WSC went on a 14-0 run and took a double-digit lead at 34-21 following a
JJ Ferrin trey at the 7:20 mark. The 'Cats built an 18-point lead (43-25) before closing the first half with a 45-29 cushion.
Wayne State was able to maintain their double-digit advantage nearly the entire second half despite the visiting Cougars posting 57 percent (15-26) shooting in the half. The 'Cats were able to offset the solid shooting from Sioux Falls by making 5 of 6 3-pointers and 13 of 17 free throws to stay in front comfortably.
Sioux Falls cut the lead to single digits at nine (86-77) with 1:13 remaining and the Wildcats closed with a 91-79 win.
Harris paced Wayne State's balanced effort with a 22-point, 15-rebound double-double that also included five steals. He was 6 of 13 from the field and made all nine of his free throws and had six offensive rebounds.

Wayne State was 31 of 66 from the field for 47 percent, including 9 for 18 behind the arc to go with 20 of 25 at the charity stripe.
Sioux Falls had three players in double figures each scoring 14 points – Taylen Ashley, Brogan Madson and Kyle Ingwerson.
The Cougars made 27 of 51 shots for 52.9 percent, going 6 of 18 from the 3-point line and 19 for 27 at the charity stripe.
WSC held a 35-27 edge in rebounding thanks to Harris' 15 caroms.
Andrew Stokes and
Kai Smith each had three assists while Harris posted a team-high five steals.
The Wildcats will be on the road Saturday visiting Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minnesota at 2 p.m.
