TURNOVERS SPELL TROUBLE FOR WILDCATS ON THE ROAD AT MINNESOTA STATE

The Wayne State Women's basketball team lost on the road to Minnesota State, 96-56 this evening. Delaney Clark led the team with 14 points with four three-point baskets. The 'Cats move to 10-11 overall and 6-3 in conference. MSU improves to 19-4 with a 15-2 NSIC record.
MSU opened the scoring with a 10-3 run in the first quarter of the game. Senior Maya Fitzpatrick hit a three to give Wayne State their first bucket of the game. MSU continued their run as they stretched the lead out to 17-7 at the four-minute mark. Delaney Clark had made a triple with 4:32 on the clock and a Brooklyn Kruse free throw was the seventh point.
Clark would go on a scoring run on her own, as she would make three more three-pointers in the first quarter to cut the Mavericks lead to eight before the end of the first quarter.
MSU closed the first quarter shooting 56% from the field and forced five Wildcat turnovers but also turned the ball over five times.
The Wildcats battled in the second quarter, staying within 10 points, responding to each MSU score. Halfway through the quarter, Fitzpatrick hit her second three-pointer off a pass from Clark. Kruse made her second bucket on a pick and roll with Tate Norblade and scored WSC's last bucker of the second quarter at the 3:50 mark and cut the lead to eight.
MSU stretched their lead out to 17 as the teams went into the halftime break. Clark led the team with 12 points at the break. Norblade led with three assists.
Wayne State would go scoreless for almost 10 full minutes, as the Mavericks stretched their lead all the way out to 26 before Kruse was sent to the free throw line.
Carsyn Boswell would make her first three-point bucket to make it a 20-point game off a Norblade dish under four minutes to play.
Clark scored her 14 points on a jump shot with 50 seconds remaining. WSC trailed 67-45 after three quarters of play.
The fourth quarter was controlled by the Mavericks as they outscored the 'Cats 29-11. WSC's points came from a handful of free throws, a jumper from Fitzpatrick, and a Meg Rietz three pointer.
Clark led the Wildcats with 14 points on 5-7 shooting with four triples. Rietz led with six rebounds follows by Fitzpatrick grabbing five. Norblade finished with six assists.

Wildcats will be back at home on Saturday to take on the Golden Bears from Concordia-St. Paul.
