Box Score             Wayne State jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings and freshman starter Carson Obrecht took a no-hitter into the sixth inning as the Wildcats completed a three-game sweep of St. Cloud State with a 16-3 resounding victory over the Huskies Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Conference baseball played at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minnesota.  WSC improves to 23-16 overall and 19-11 in the NSIC while SCSU drops to 20-20 and 16-14 in league play.
WSC opened the scoring in the first inning with three runs thanks to a two-out St. Cloud State error.  Brayden Chaney (double), Max Heard (single) and Taylor Gill (single) all scored when Kaden Young reached on a fielding error by the Husky second baseman with a 3-2 count that scored all three runs.
In the second, the 'Cats plated five runs thanks to five hits to grab an 8-0 lead.  Quinn McCafferty and Young each had run-scoring doubles in the inning while Chaney and Gill both contributed RBI singles.
Three more runs on three hits in the third inning gave Wayne State an 11-0 advantage.  Heard's two-run double to right-center field drove home Braden Cannon (double) and Keagan McLaughlin (walk) with Heard crossing home plate on Gill's single to right-center field.
The lead increased to 14-0 in the fourth thanks to three more Wildcat runs on a pair of hits and four walks from St. Cloud State pitching.  Nate Cunningham walked to open the inning and scored on a sacrifice fly from McLaughlin.  Cannon doubled and scored on a Chase Douglas groundout while Chaney doubled and later touched home plate on a bases-loaded walk to McCafferty.
WSC added two more runs in the fifth.  Cunningham led off the inning with a solo homer to right field.  Chaney's third double of the day drove home Cannon, who walked earlier in the inning.
While the Wildcat offense was producing big numbers, freshman starting pitcher Carson Obrecht was shutting down the Husky offense with a no-hitter through five innings.
After striking out the first batter to open the sixth frame, Obrecht issued a walk and hit batter followed by a St. Cloud State three-run homer for the first Husky hit of the game to break the no-hit and shutout bid.
Reliever Eli Crnkovich came on in the seventh for a 1-2-3 inning and the 'Cats completed the weekend sweep with a resounding 16-3 win over the Huskies.
Wayne State had 16 hits in the win.  Chaney led the high-powered offensive attack going 4 for 6 at the plate with three doubles, three runs scored and two RBI.  Gill had three singles, going 3 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
All but one starter had a hit for the Wildcats as Cannon and Heard also had multi-hit contests.  Cannon doubled twice, going 2 for 4 with three runs scored.  Heard was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI.
Cunningham had a homer while McCafferty and Young each had doubles.
Obrecht fired six strong innings on the mound for the win, now 1-1 on the season.  He fired 5 1/3 innings of no-hit ball and allowed just the sixth inning homer for the lone hit with five strikeouts and three walks.  Crnkovich worked a perfect seventh inning to close the contest.
The 'Cats are at home Wednesday for a mid-week doubleheader vs. Sioux Falls starting at 1:30 p.m.
