Wayne State could not overcome an 11-0 deficit in the first three innings as St. Cloud State eliminated the Wildcats from the 2025 Northern Sun Conference Baseball Tournament Thursday evening by a score of 19-5 at the Birdcage in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. WSC ends the year at 30-22 while the Huskies keep their season alive with a 28-25 record.
St. Cloud State jumped out quickly on the Wildcats, scoring three runs in the first followed by four runs in the second and third innings for the early 11-0 advantage.
Wayne State got three runs back in the bottom of the third thanks to a three-run over to right-center field by designated hitter
Max Heard, scoring
Cam Madsen and
Chase Douglas who each singled.
The Huskies responded quickly, coming up with six runs in the fifth inning to grab a 17-3 lead.
The Wildcats scored their final two runs of the game in the bottom of the fifth as
Kaden Young singled and Douglas reached on an error with both players scoring on
Taylor Gill's single to center field.
SCSU scored the final runs of the game in the top of the sixth and one more in the ninth to make the final score 19-5.
Wayne State had six hits in the contest. Young finishes 2 for 4 with a double and run scored. Heard belted a three-run homer. Gill added a two-run single while Douglas singled and scored twice with Madsen also producing a single and run scored.

Kyler Hanson (1-3) was tagged with the pitching loss.
