Paul Schuyler earns NSIC Baseball Player of the Week honors

3/30/2026 1:06:00 PM

Wayne State College senior second baseman Paul Schuyler was named Monday morning Northern Sun Conference Baseball Player of the Week following his performance in the Wildcats' three-game sweep over the weekend against Bemidji State.
Schuyler, a 5-11, 180-pounder from Bellevue (Omaha/Bellevue East HS), went 6 for 10 with two homers, two doubles and 11 RBI with five runs scored in three games against the Beavers.  Sunday, he set a new single game school record with nine RBI going 3 for 4 with two homers, a double and two runs scored in a 19-7 win over Bemidji State.  Schuyler belted a two-run homer, followed by a grand slam and had a bases-loaded clearing double in the sixth for his nine RBI to break the previous school mark of eight set by Joe Wendte at Minnesota Crookston on May 3, 2009.
Schuyler opened the series going 3 for 4 with a double, RBI and run scored in Saturday's 11-5 win and walked three times scoring two runs with a stolen base and RBI in a 26-15 victory Saturday.
For the season Schuyler has a .356 batting average in 24 starts with two homers, five doubles and 24 RBI.  He is also 10-14 on stolen bases and ranks third on the Wildcat team with 31 hits.
Wayne State has won 11 games in a row and is 19-9 on the season and third place in the NSIC with an 11-4 league mark.  The Wildcats travel to Sioux Falls Tuesday afternoon for an NSIC doubleheader at #17 Augustana starting at 3 p.m.
