2009: Played in all 11 games with eight starts at tight end and special teams as a senior... had one kickoff return for 11 yards against Mary on 11/7/09... also had two tackles against Bemidji State(assisted) on 10/10/09 and at Concordia-St. Paul (solo) on 10/31/09.
2008: Saw action in 10 games with four starts at H-back for the Wildcats...had three catches for 33 yards during the season...made two catches for 27 yards at Nebraska-Kearney on 8-30-08 and had a six yard catch at the University of Mary on 11-8-08.
2007: Played in 10 games and made one start on the season...Made 18 tackles with two resulting in a loss of yards...Caught one pass for a six yard touchdown in the Mineral Water Bowl vs. Missouri Western on 12-1-07.
2006: Had stellar freshman season for the Wildcats starting all 11 games at outside linebacker......ranked sixth on the team in tackles with 53, accounting for 25 solo and 28 assisted stops....had season-high 12 tackles vs. Nebraska-Kearney on 9-9-06 with nine solo stops.....added three fumble recoveries, three tackles for loss, one interception, one sack and one blocked kick.
High School: A three-sport standout at Creighton HS, excelling in football, wrestling and track. . . Served as captain for two seasons and was a two-time All-District linebacker for the Bulldogs, who were 33-10 with Nielsen in uniform. . . Has 117 career wins in wrestling with 92 pins, qualifying for the state wrestling tournament twice. . . Earned honorable mention All-State honors in football in 2005.
