Tanner Johnson is in his second year (2025) as a football coaching assistant at Wayne State College, working with tight ends.
Johnson is familiar with Northern Sun Conference football, coming to Wayne after a playing career (tight end) at Winona State and Minnesota State. A native of Appleton, Wisconsin, Johnson played his last two seasons at Winona State. He appeared in all 12 games during the 2022 season and was an All-NSIC Academic Team selection. Johnson began his collegiate football career at Minnesota State where he spent three years (2019-21), appearing in all 26 games during two seasons that included the 2019 NCAA Division II national championship game. He recorded 11 catches for 81 yards and one TD during his time in Mankato.
