2015 Outdoor:  Ran in the sprints and 400 meter hurdles at seven meets...finished 14th in the 400 meter hurdles at the NSIC Outdoor Championships with time of 58.17 seconds...had season-best time of 57.97 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles to place seventh at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays (5/2/15)...posted time of 53.04 seconds in the 400 meter dash at Howard Wood Dakota Relays.

2015 Indoor:  Competed in one meet, posting time of 24.46 seconds in the 200 meter dash to finish 16th at the Minnesota State Preseason Open (12/6/14).

2014 Outdoor: Had a 12th place finish in the 400 meter hurdles at the NSIC Championships with season best time of 58.68 seconds...top time in the 400 meter dash was 54.28 seconds at the UNK Loper Invite (4/5/14).

2014 Indoor: Competed in the 200 and 400 meter dashes and 600 meter runs during the indoor season...ran season-best time of 54.68 seconds at the Concordia Invite on 2/14/14...had season best time of 25.37 in the 200 meter dash at the Minnesota State Open on 2/1/14...finished third in the 600 meter run at the Wildcat Open on 1/25/14 with time of 1:31.04.

2013 Outdoor: Participated in four events during the season...placed fourth at the Vance Butler Invite in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.19...was part of a 4x400 meter relay team that finished sixth at the Wildcat Classic with a time of 3:33.68...ran the 400 meter dash at the Prairie Wolf Invite in 54.43...ran a 24.48 200 meter dash at the UNL Pre-Drake meet.

2013 Indoor: Competed in four events during freshman season at Wayne State College...placed 9th in the 300 meter dash at the UNK Preseason Open with a time of 39.57...was part of the 4 x 400 relay team that placed 13th at the Nebraska Tuneup with a time of 3:27.94.

High School:  2010 graduate of David City High School...as a senior was a Class C state track qualifier in the 300 meter hurdles...also competed in wrestling at David City High.

Personal:  Son of Joe Varela and Elizabeth Lopez...majoring in business management.
