Joins WSC track and field team after playing volleyball four seasons with Wildcats
2009 Outdoor: Ran leg on fourth place 4 x 400 relay team (3:58.87) at the NSIC Outdoor Championships...opened outdoor season with two second place finishes as well as a sixth place finish at the Mount Marty Invite on 3-29-09...ran leg of second place 4 x 400 relay team (4:10.23), finished second in the 800 meter run (2:27.71) and placed sixth in the 400 meter dash...placed first in the 800 meter run (2:26.19) and ran leg of first place 4 x 400 relay team (4:02.89) at the Wildcat Open on 4-3-09...member of first place 4 x 400 relay team (4:01.22) at the Sioux City Relays on 4-18-09...also placed second in the 800 meter run (2:25.83) at the South Dakota Dual on 4-28-09.
2009 Indoor: Scored points running legs on two relay events at the NSIC Indoor Championships in Bemidji, Minnesota...ran legs on seventh place 4 x 400 meter relay team (4:05.93) and seventh place distance medley relay team (13:15.55)...also competed in 600 meter run at NSIC Indoor and was 15th with time of 1:44.23...ran season-best time of 1:43.24 to place fourth in the 600 meter run at Minnesota State Open on 1-31-09...was sixth in the 600 meter run (1:47.20) at the USD Hillenbrand Invite on 2-7-09.
High School: Wessel was a very successful distance runner at Humphrey St. Francis High School, helping Flyers to a pair of second place finishes as a junior and senior...medaled all four years at State Track Meet from 2002-05...as a senior in 2005, was second in the Class C 800 meter run (2:22.88) and third in 3200 meter run (12:06.70) and ran legs on first place 1600 meter relay and fifth place 3200 meter relay...as a junior in 2004, ran anchor leg on Class D first place 3200 meter relay team and was second in the 3200 meter run (12:06.09), second in the 800 meter run (2:22.29) and fifth in the 1600 meter run (5:31.06)...as a sophomore in 2003, won the Class C 3200 meter run (11:53.31) and was third in the 1600 meter run (5:31.41)...also ran anchor leg on fourth place 3200 meter relay team as a sophomore...during freshman season in 2002, placed second in the 3200 meter run (11:57.87) and ran anchor leg on fifth place 3200 meter relay.
