Kim DePew is in her 18th season (2025-26) as the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Wayne State College. She coaches the setters and serves as camp coordinator while also assisting in recruiting and scouting duties for the Wildcat volleyball program.
While at Wayne State, DePew has helped the Wildcats to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances, two NSIC regular season championships (2022 and 2023), two NCAA Central Region Titles (2015 and 2023) and two trips to the NCAA Elite Eight (2015 and 2023), while winning at least 20 games 16 of 17 seasons as a Wildcat assistant coach (2020 season canceled due to COVID-19).
Since joining the Wildcat staff, DePew has coached several All-NSIC, All-Central Region and AVCA All-American honorable mention setters. They include Molly Romano (All-NSIC Second Team in 2024), Rachel Walker, All-NSIC First Team and AVCA All-America honorable mention in 2022 and 2023, Wayne State's all-time assist leader Leisa McClintock, who was All-NSIC First Team in 2014 and 2015 and All-NSIC Second Team in 2013 and Diedra Artz, an All-NSIC First Team selection in 2009 and 2010.
Prior to arriving at Wayne State, the former Kim Edwards, a graduate of Sioux City (Iowa) Heelan High School, served two seasons (2006-07) as a graduate assistant coach at Emporia State University in Kansas. The Hornets were 27-9 in 2007 and advanced to the NCAA South Regional semifinals.
Before starting her coaching career, DePew was a standout setter at Emporia State. She earned First Team All-MIAA honors during her senior season with a league-high 1,489 set assists in the 2005 season. DePew finished her playing career (2002-05) as the all-time leader in set assists for the Hornets with 5,754 and is the career leader in assists per game at 13.29.
DePew also excelled in the classroom, named to the Emporia State Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in 2005-06. In 2009, DePew was inducted into the Iowa Girls' High School Athletic Union Volleyball Hall of Fame.
Kim and her husband Eric reside in Wayne with their son Brett (10 in September) and five-year-old daughter Avery Jae.
