The University of Mary shutout Wayne State 3-0 Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer played in Bismarck, North Dakota. The host Marauders used a commanding 30-7 advantage in shots over the Wildcats to post the league win, improving to 8-5 overall and 2-2 in the NSIC while Wayne State falls to 0-10-2 overall and 0-4 in league play.
Mary opened the scoring at the 17:42 mark when Jessica Janusz scored on a penalty kick to give the Marauders a 1-0 lead. Megan Wilson scored for Mary in the 37th minute to make the score 2-0 at halftime. The lone goal in the second half came at the 49:03 mark when Danielle Mello found the net for Mary to make the final score 3-0.
Mary's Carly Feiler earned the shutout win for the Marauders making two saves while Wayne State goalkeeper Emily Walker was credited with 11 saves while allowing three goals in a losing effort for the Wildcats.
Wayne State will be at home next weekend, hosting Winona State Saturday and Upper Iowa Sunday in a pair of Northern Sun Conference contests.
