Upper Iowa blanked Wayne State 2-0 in non-conference women's soccer Sunday afternoon in Fayette, Iowa. The Wildcats fall to 0-6-2 on the season while the host Peacocks improved to 6-5.
Upper Iowa's Amy Campbell scored in the 28th minute to give the host Peacocks a 1-0 lead. The score stayed that way until the 88th minute when Campbell scored again to give UIU a 2-0 win over the Wildcats. WSC was out shot in the contest 21-8, including 14-1 in shots on goal. Sara Schwieger had the lone shot on goal for WSC. Freshman goalkeeper Emily Walker made 12 saves while allowing just two goals in a losing effort for WSC.
Wayne State will be in action at home next weekend, opening Northern Sun Conference play against Bemidji State on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the WSC Soccer Complex.
