The Wayne State College men's cross country team is ranked 10th in the USTFCCCA (United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) Division II Men's Cross Country Central Region Rankings released Friday.
Adams State of Colorado is ranked first in the region followed by Western State, Minnesota State, Colorado School of Mines and Metro State in the top five. Minnesota Duluth is sixth with Augustana, Univ. of Colorado - Colorado Springs, MSU Moorhead and Wayne State rounding out the top 10. The top six finishing teams in the NCAA Div. II Central Regional Championships at Kearney, Nebraska on November 8th will advance to the NCAA Div. II National Championships in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania on November 22nd.
Last season, WSC finished second in the NSIC and 14th in the North Central Region. The Wildcats open the 2008 season on Friday, September 5th at the Northern State Open in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
