Minnesota State blanked Wayne State College 2-0 in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer Saturday afternoon in Mankato, Minnesota. The host Mavericks are now 9-2-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the NSIC while WSC falls to 3-11-1 overall and 0-7-1 in league play.
Minnesota State took an early 1-0 lead as Laura Leber scored at the 8:31 mark to give the Mavericks the early advantage. The score stayed that way until the 88th minute when Ann Kincaid scored with just 1:07 left in the game as the Mavericks sealed the 2-0 win.
Minnesota State held a sizeable 27-2 advantage in shots, including 14-1 in shots on goal. Valerie Robinson had the lone shot on goal for Wayne State. Junior goal keeper Emily Walker made 12 saves while allowing just two goals in the loss.
Wayne State will be on the road again Sunday afternoon, playing at Southwest Minnesota State starting at 1:00 p.m.
