10th-ranked Minnesota Duluth swept #22 Wayne State in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played Friday evening in Duluth, Minnesota. Scores of the match were 25-17, 25-22 and 25-18. The host Bulldogs remain unbeaten in league play at 6-0, improving to 13-3 overall, while Wayne State falls to 16-4 overall and 4-2 in the NSIC.
Minnesota Duluth hit .365 for the match compared to .191 for the Wildcats and had 49 kills to 32 for WSC. Junior middle hitter Jennifer Hefner topped Wayne State in hitting with 13 kills followed by Tali Fredrickson with eight and Lea Hartigan seven. Setter Diedra Artz handed out 28 set assists while Tessa Wietfeld had a team-high seven digs. Hefner led WSC in blocks with four.
Wayne State will be on the road again Saturday afternoon, visiting Bemidji State for a 3:00 p.m. Northern Sun Conference contest.
