#22 Wayne State 3 Bemidji State 2
The 22nd ranked Wayne State volleyball team defeated Bemidji State in five games 18-25,25-17,25-23,17-25,15-6 Saturday afternoon in Bemidji, Minnesota. The win makes WSC 17-4 overall and 5-2 in the NSIC and the loss drops BSU to 6-11 overall and a 3-4 record in the league.
Jennifer Hefner led the way for the Wildcats with a season high 21 kills and four blocks on the afternoon. Junior Lea Hartigan added 16 kills for WSC. Sophomore Tali Fredrickson had 11 kills and 14 digs, giving Fredrickson her eighth double-double this season. Libero Leigh Connot added 18 digs for WSC defensively. Setter Diedra Artz was credited with 52 set assists to go with nine digs for the Wildcats.
Nicole Olson led the Beavers with 14 kills on the afternoon and Melissa McNeely added 14 kills and five digs for BSU. Setter Courtney Bitter was credited with 48 set assists to go along with six digs for Bemidji State.
Wayne State will be at home next weekend, hosting Minnesota, Crookston Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and MSU Moorhead on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
