Northern State defeated Wayne State 1-0 in the final minutes Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer played in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The win gives Northern State a 3-4-3 overall record and a 1-1-1 record in the NSIC and the loss drops WSC to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in league play.
The game was scoreless until Northern State's Maggie Fedor scored the game's only goal at the 87:43 mark of the second half when Wildcat goalkeeper Emily Walker made an initial save and Fedor scored the goal off of the rebound.
Fedor led Northern State offensively with eight shots on the game, seven of which were on goal. Summer Swan also added three shots for the Wolves. Walker had a great game in goal for the Wildcats making nine saves on the afternoon. Junior Megan Kenealy led the offensive charge for WSC with four shots on the afternoon.
Wayne State's next game will be Sunday, October 4 when the Wildcats host Augustana College in a Northern Sun Conference contest starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Wayne State Soccer Complex.
