Wisconsin-Parkside limits WSC to four hits as Rangers score 6-1 win over Wildcats

Wisconsin-Parkside pitchers Dustin Kollman and Joel Bergmann combined to limit Wayne State to just four hits as the Rangers scored a 6-1 win over the Wildcats Sunday afternoon at the Dunn Hospitality Tournament in Evansville, Indiana.  Parkside improves to 4-8 on the season while dropping Wayne State to 4-7.  

A four-run third inning by Wisconsin-Parkside set the tone for the game.  The Rangers used four singles to plate four runs to take a 4-0 lead.  The Wildcats scored their only run of the game in the fourth inning when Treye Hacker was hit by a pitch and later scored on Taylor Welk's sacrifice fly to right field to make the score 4-1.  Wisconsin Parkside added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to make the final tally 6-1.

UW-Parkside had 10 hits in the game to four by the Wildcats.  Joe Wendte was 2 for 5 with a pair of singles while John Plasha and Jake Ritzdorf also singled for WSC.  

Sophomore starter Tom Doran (1-1) suffered the pitching loss, allowing seven hits and five runs over 5 1/3 innings.  John Botwell pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits while Sam Rathbun worked the final inning of relief.  

Wayne State was scheduled to play Southern Indiana Sunday afternoon in another game at the Dunn Hospitality Tournament in Evansville, Indiana.
