Wisconsin-Parkside pitchers Dustin Kollman and Joel Bergmann combined to limit Wayne State to just four hits as the Rangers scored a 6-1 win over the Wildcats Sunday afternoon at the Dunn Hospitality Tournament in Evansville, Indiana. Parkside improves to 4-8 on the season while dropping Wayne State to 4-7.
A four-run third inning by Wisconsin-Parkside set the tone for the game. The Rangers used four singles to plate four runs to take a 4-0 lead. The Wildcats scored their only run of the game in the fourth inning when
Treye Hacker was hit by a pitch and later scored on
Taylor Welk's sacrifice fly to right field to make the score 4-1. Wisconsin Parkside added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to make the final tally 6-1.
UW-Parkside had 10 hits in the game to four by the Wildcats.
Joe Wendte was 2 for 5 with a pair of singles while
John Plasha and
Jake Ritzdorf also singled for WSC.
Sophomore starter
Tom Doran (1-1) suffered the pitching loss, allowing seven hits and five runs over 5 1/3 innings. John Botwell pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits while
Sam Rathbun worked the final inning of relief.
