The Wayne State Women's Soccer team was able to defeat MSU Moorhead 1-0 for back to back NSIC victories. Wayne State improved their overall record to 5-9-2 and 2-8-1 in conference play while MSU Moorhead drops to 8-6-1 overall with a 4-6-1 NSIC record.
Kelly Lange scored on a kick from 15 feet left of the box just three minutes into the game to give WSC the early 1-0 lead. Both teams took 14 shots in the game but Lange was the only player able to convert on a shot attempt. The Wildcats had an advantage over the Dragons in corner kicks 7-3 and saves 6-2. Each team was whistled for 10 fouls in the contest while MSU Moorhead received two yellow cards.
Liz Israelsen led the 'Cats in shots with four, Christie Johnson took three, Kelsey Meyer and Mallory Hoyt each shot twice and Kelly Lange, Alexa Romek and Alex Mathers each took a shot as well. Romek was credited with the only assist on the afternoon on the Lange goal. Ryan Wells recorded a second straight shutout with while also getting her second collegiate victory, her goalkeeper record is now 2-6-0.
Wayne State will be at home again next weekend hosting St. Cloud State Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and Concordia-St. Paul Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in a pair of Northern Sun Conference contests.
