Wayne State Women's Soccer falls to St. Cloud State 1-0

            Wayne State was unable to extend their two game NSIC winning streak to three as St. Cloud State defeated the Wildcats 1-0 at the WSC Soccer Complex on Saturday. After the loss Wayne State drops to 5-10-2 on the season and 2-9-1 in the NSIC while the Huskies improve their season record to 9-7-1 and 6-5-1 in the conference.

            The lone goal of the game came off the foot of St. Cloud State's Kara Espinosa in the sixty-sixth minute of the contest after a corner kick was knocked around in the box and Espinosa buried it in the back of the net, it was Espinosa's fourth goal of the season. SCSU held a 10-9 advantage in shots and a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks.

            The Wildcat attack was led by McKenna Adams who took three shots while Mallory Hoyt, Kelly Lange, Alexa Romek, Liz Israelsen, Kelsey Meyer and Kelsea Lambert each notched one shot apiece. Goalkeeper Ryan Wells saved three shots in the contest as her personal goalkeeper record slid to 2-7. The Huskies used a balanced offense as Mary Morhardt, Sarah Clapp, and Chelsey Permenter attempted two shots while teammates Becca Hodous, Kelsey Helgeson, Kara Espinosa and Kate Hanzlik each took one shot. SCSU goalkeeper Kenzie Hanzlik improved her goalie record to 9-7-1 on the season while saving four shots in the matchup.

            Wayne State will close out the regular season at home Sunday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. Northern Sun Conference contest against Concordia-St. Paul.
