Senior middle hitter
Alex Armes recorded a career-high 20 kills while hitting a scorching .559 in the match to lead #18 Wayne State College in a 3-1 Northern Sun Conference volleyball win at MSU Moorhead Saturday afternoon at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minnesota. Scores of the match were 25-22, 26-24, 23-25 and 25-17. WSC improves to 18-6 overall and 10-4 in the NSIC while the host Dragons slip to 12-11 and 4-10 in league play.
The Wildcats held a .230-.193 edge in hitting over the Dragons while MSUM had three more kills than WSC 64-61. MSU Moorhead had two more digs than WSC, 89-87, and had eight blocks to seven for the Wildcats.
Armes, a graduate from Grand Island High School, paced WSC in hitting with her career-best 20 kills to go with just one attack error for a .559 hitting percentage on 34 total attacks. She also had a team-high four blocks. Junior outside hitter
Cori Hobbs accounted for 12 kills and 21 digs for her 11
th double-double of the season while senior rightside hitter
Melanie Placke chipped in with 11 kills. Freshman
Katie Hughes notched 23 digs followed by redshirt freshman libero

Leisa McClintock was credited with 51 set assists in the win.
For MSU Moorhead, Kaitlin Van Winkle had 16 kills followed by Heidi Lensing with 15 and Meredith Egeland 11. Libero Katy Ness recorded 30 digs with Anna Olson and Casie Baer handing out 31 and 25 set assists respectively.
Wayne State will be at home next weekend, hosting #4 Concordia-St. Paul Friday evening at 7 p.m. followed by a Saturday afternoon contest vs. #13 Minnesota State at 4 p.m.
