Wayne State women's soccer falls 4-0 at Bemidji State

            The Wayne State women's soccer team was defeated 4-0 at Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon as the Wildcats were outshot in the contest 21-13. WSC is now 0-7-0 overall on the season and 0-4-0 in the NSIC while the Beavers improve to 4-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play.
            Bemidji State wasted no time getting on the board as Mary O'Brien scored on a rebound off a blocked shot only 37 seconds into the game to give BSU the 1-0 lead. Megan Castro would add to the Beavers' advantage with her first goal of the season at the 32 minute mark and BSU would take that 2-0 lead into halftime.
            The Beavers would extend their lead to 3-0 at the 55 minute mark when O'Brien scored her second goal of the game. Just three minutes later, Jessie Voeller scored for Bemidji State to give the Beavers a 4-0 advantage.
            Freshman Kelly Voigt led the Wildcats on offense with five shots with two on goal. McKenna Adams and Josie Brown each notched two shots while Mallory Hoyt, Kayli Hopper, Alex Mathers and Hannah Thayer each had one shot. Goalkeeper Courtney True was tagged with the loss while notching five saves and allowing four goals in 61 minutes of work. Ryan Wells relieved True in the net and recorded one save in 29 minutes of play.
            The Wildcats will be on the road again Sunday afternoon taking on Minnesota, Crookston in a 1 p.m. Northern Sun Conference contest in Crookston, Minnesota.
