Wildcat soccer falls to #4 Minnesota State

Minnesota State, ranked fourth in this week's NSCAA Division II Top 25 Poll, defeated the Wayne State women's soccer team 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Wayne Soccer Complex. The Mavericks are now 10-1 on the season and 8-0 in league play while the Wildcats fall to 1-9-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the NSIC.
The Mavericks scored three goals in the span of five minutes in the first half of the contest to take a 3-0 lead over the Wildcats into the half. MSU would then score four more goals in the second half to net the 7-0 victory.
Macy Hagen led Wayne State in shots with three while Mallory Hoyt, Hailey Smith and Hali Henwood each had one shot. Kylie Comba recorded 11 saves for WSC in the game and falls to 1-9-1 this season.
Minnesota State was led by Korey Kronforst's three goals while Tori Meinhardt, Brittany Cygan, Kiana Nickel and Rebecca Pederson each had one goal for the Mavericks. Goalkeeper Molly McGough improves to 8-1 on the season for MSU as she had two saves in the match.
The Wildcats will be at home again Sunday afternoon entertaining Concordia-St. Paul in a 1 p.m. Northern Sun Conference contest at the WSC Soccer Complex.
