Augustana College 70 Wayne State 45
Augustana held Wayne State College to just 34 percent shooting and led from start to finish in a 70-45 Northern Sun Conference men's basketball win Monday evening over the Wildcats at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. Augustana is now 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play while WSC drops to 2-2 and 0-1 in the NSIC.
After Augustana opened with a 10-4 lead, WSC got within one at 10-9 at the 10:29 mark on a
Adol Aluong free throw. The Vikings then scored the next nine points and held a 19-9 lead with 7:49 to go before halftime.
With the Vikings up 21-11, WSC went on a 9-0 run over the next 3:42 and pulled within one again at 21-20 thanks to a
David Andersen layup with 2:41 to go before halftime. Augustana then closed the half leading 25-22.
The second half was close early until the Vikings put the game out of reach with a huge scoring run midway through the half.

Ryan Rolfzen 3-pointer at the 15:03 mark cut the Viking advantage to 37-33. Augustana then went on a 17-0 run over the next 4:24 to take control of the game and lead 54-33 with 10:39 to play and the Vikings cruised the rest of the way to the 70-45 win.

Adol Aluong was the lone Wildcat player in double figures with 15 points. He was also Wayne State's top rebounder with five.
Wayne State made just 17 of 50 shots for 34 percent, going 3 for 15 from the 3-point line and 8 of 12 at the charity stripe.
Daniel Jansen led Augustana in scoring with 17 points followed by Casey Schilling with 15 and Devin Gilligan 10. The Vikings made 20 of 58 shots for 34.5 percent, including 3 for 16 behind the arch. But Augustana was money at the free throw line sinking 27 of 32 free throws.
Augustana held a 44-31 advantage in rebounding over the Wildcats thanks to eight boards from Schilling while Aluong led WSC on the glass with five.
Wayne State had 20 turnovers in the game to 14 by the Vikings.
Wayne State will conclude non-conference play Saturday night with a 6 p.m. home contest against Peru State College at Rice Auditorium.
